Embedded SMTP server Foxmail's Mail Express feature

Hi there.
I was a long time The Bat! user, then almost a year and a half ago switched to Foxmail just because one feature I haven't seen in any other email client out there and which IMO makes it alone worth using Foxmail over any other client.

That feature is named "Mail Express" in Foxmail, and it consists in a button in the composition window which, when clicked, sends the mail directly to the recipient's mailbox (I mean, directly, to the recipient's POP server) instead of sending it to your account's SMTP server. It is something as an embedded on-demand SMTP server, and I think it is a godsend, because my ISP's SMTP isn't as reliable as I like and need.

The fact is that, while Foxmail is a nice mail client, I find it somewhat limited, and I'm therefore looking for a completer e-mail client, which I think I found in Becky.

So, I'd like to know if there is any available thing available for Becky which can provide the functionality that Foxmail's Mail Express gives me. Obviously, I know that there are nice standalone SMTP servers out there (ArgoSoft one and the likes) which I can run when I need to send a mail directly to the recipient and the shutdown it when not needed, but such thing is not what I'm looking for. I'd like it to be available inside the mail client itself, like Foxmail's ME.

Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Foxmail is bloated with features nobody needs and also obviously used by spammers (because of the SMTP feature).

Nah, Becky 4ever  If only Gecko would be used as HTML rendering engine...

Foxmail is in reality nasty spyware which sends personal info to a computer in China.

Well, I still prefer separate SMTP server - using Advanced Direct Remailer. Tiny program, works like charm, no troubles, direct delivery, immediate notification about non-deliveries. And you can use any mail client you want not limiting yourself. Can't see any reasonable argument to support you, sorry...

I think Foxmail is to be commended for having an internal express mailer that sends direct to recipient's pop3 box (whatever the other issues may be with fox mail). Much of the loss of mail must be due to shunting around between different servers. There seem few programs like advanced direct remailer that integrate with an existing mail client , are there any other (free) ones?

I also miss that feature in Becky and also use both Foxmail AND Becky! for email management. The point with using a mail client with and embedded SMTP server (that is Foxmail, I don't know any other in the Windows platform) is that I have some accounts whose SMTP mail server is simply not reliable, so I'm not sure when using them if my mail will arrive or not to the person I'm writing too. That is quite embarrassing. For that accounts I use Foxmail, otherwise I use Becky!, simply because is a better and completer email reader. In fact, it is the best one I've managed to found for Windows platform.

I've been using local SMTP servers through a regular mail client (which in my case were first Outlook Express then The Bat!) until I found Foxmail. However, there is a number of reasons for me to keep using Foxmail's embedded SMTP sender instead of setting up a local SMTP server to send the messages from Becky!:

1) First, those SMTP servers (the likes of Advanced Direct Remailer, ArgoGoft Mail Server, etc) use to install a SMTP system service (at least in the Windows NT based Windows OSes, that is Windows NT, 2000 and XP). In my case, as for most regular email users around, I only send mails from time to time, maybe two or three times a day, even two or three at week. That I keep running permanently an SMTP service on my machine not only means that there are resources in use which are rarely used, which can be an issue for people with low end machines, but also that there is actually a server running in your personal machine. This means opened ports, and, since not every user has the required knowledge to setup a firewall with a proper set of rules, a potentially dangeorus security issue.

2) Second, what is cool about Foxmail's Mail Express is that you can send your mail directly to your friend's mailbox just by pressing a single button on the message composition toolbar then you see trough a progress bar how your mail is sent to him. It will not be lost by any unreliable SMTP server. This is really a godsend in terms of time saving and comfortability. Maybe is a matter of taste, but such easyness and the peace of mind it brings is an issue for me.

As for the spammers argument, I found it quite... strange. I really doubt that any spammer really uses Foxmail's Mail Express to do their job. Do the spammers open Foxmail, then open the mail composition window, paste the message, paste the address of the person to be spammed in the destinatary field, press the "Send message directly to the recipient's mailbox", watch how it is sent, close the window then start again the process with the next address to be spammed? This is a nonsense. I can only guess that they use some kind of robots, but I am sure that they don't use email clients, with embedded SMTP servers or not, for do their spamming job.

I'm really considering the possibility of contacting Becky!'s authors in order to suggest the incorporation of this feature in their program, but I can't find any contact address in the program or in their webpage. Does anyone here know how to contact them?

Apologies for my bad english.

So Carty is Becky!'s author and he reads this board on a regular basis? Well then I'd like first of all to congratulate him for the program and then invite to him to consider the implementation of the feature we are discussing on his otherwise wonderful software, at least its inclusion in his agenda.

Regards.
