What a morning here LOL. We postponed out Christmas last night til tomorrow because of the blizzard. Paul and Wanda's son and family got stuck on the highway in Oklahoma City last night when they closed the road but they made it to a motel. They were on their way from Houston. We also have others snowbound east of us. We have about 30 people coming.

This morning, Paul managed to get both their van and the Cat stuck on our road  . The Cat is still stuck in the ditch 1/4 mile down the road. Then we tried to go down there with the Black pickup (The truck I drive) and almost got that stuck It is 2 WD with no weight in the back. I made it back here and got the BIG dump truck and almost got that stuck but I made it down there with that finally. We could not budge the Cat but we pulled the van out. We may try with the Lift truck IF it starts in this weather (Diesel) but Paul went back down with a shovel to dig the Cat out a little more. We went back and forth a number of times with the big dump and packed the snow down enough so a vehicle can get through now. IF the Lift truck starts it might pull it out, it is strong. He has a cord running out to the block heater for that now. We live on a dirt road, 1/2 mile long that is a deadend and the town plows won't get out here for a week.I came back in to warm up.

I am used to it because I am originally from New England but Kansas is not equipped as well as back east when we get it.

Rod..... don't go out and overdue it, you don't need to get sick on Christmas, or any other day for that matter.

I remember all those joys of living up north, then again I may prefer it to all the hard wind driven rain, tornado watches, none spotted but trees and power lines down, and numerous thunderstorms that we had today.

We had our dinner and it's about gone.

Stay Safe!

Nothing like a bit of excitement to add to the usual Holiday stress. The main thing is to be careful and stay safe. When the celebration occurs is when everyone is together.

The son made it here finally BUT he is also stuck but farther down the road than where the Cat is. They are down there trying to dig that out now. He has never drivin in this stuff.

Larry, I prefer the snow to the tornadoes but unfortunately we get both here. :o

Whatever happens Roddy, enjoy yourselves as much as you can, but stay safe as much as you can. I don't want to hear of any accidents over there

Thanks Mimi, I sure HOPE 2010 is better. =D

Last night turned out good though. The ones that were stranded finally made it here so I went down to the house and we let the kids open their presents. I walked in with a red Santa hat and along with my grey beard, the 3 year old from Houston thought I was Santa. The look on his face was a picture moment when I walked in but nobody got a picture.

The rest of the crew should be here a little later and the roads should be clear enough for everyone to get here.

The Cat us STILL in the ditch  . Not sure if we will attempt to get it out ourselves again today or just call a tow truck that has a heavy duty winch on it.

By the time I get back from my travels next Saturday it will already be 2010 so I hope that 2010 will be better for you all than 2009 was.

It sounds like you had a great night last night Roddy, I hope this is a sign of things to come for you, you need a break after this year.
